Features & Key Specifications
Features & Key Specifications of Our LPCF Series:
Standard External Hex Body:
The hexagonal body is designed for easy installation with a standard wrench, allowing for proper torque to be applied for a secure, leak-proof connection.
Instant Push-to-Connect Design:
Simply push the nylon or polyurethane tube into the fitting for an immediate, secure, and airtight seal.
Tapered BSPT (R) Threads:
Featuring BSPT (R) tapered threads, which create a strong mechanical seal. Use of a thread sealant (like PTFE tape) is recommended for a bubble-tight connection.
Wide Range of Sizes:
We offer a complete selection of sizes, connecting metric tubing from 4mm to 12mm OD to tapered BSPT (R) threads from 1/8" to 1/2".
Durable Nickel-Plated Brass Body:
The threaded body is constructed from nickel-plated brass, providing excellent durability and resistance to corrosion in typical industrial environments.
Application Fields
The Universal Connector for Male-Threaded Ports:
Connecting to Filter-Regulators (FRLs): A common fitting for connecting the outlet of an FRL unit to the main air line.
Cylinder Rod End Connections: Used to connect tubing to the male-threaded ends of certain cylinder piston rods.
Connecting to Gauges & Sensors: Easily connect a pneumatic line to a male-threaded pressure gauge or sensor.
Plumbing Between Male Fittings: Used to join two male-threaded fittings or pipes with a section of tubing.
General Pneumatic Circuits: A versatile fitting for any point where a tube needs to connect to a male thread.
Technical & Selection Guide
When to Use a Female vs. a Male Fitting?
The choice is simple and depends on the port you are connecting to:
Use a FEMALE Fitting (this LPCF series) when the device you are connecting to has male (external) threads.
Use a MALE Fitting (like our LPC series) when the device you are connecting to has female (internal) threads.
Understanding BSPT (R) Threads:
BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper), also known as "R" thread, is a tapered thread. The seal is created by the threads wedging together. Unlike BSPP (G) threads which seal with an O-ring, tapered threads require the use of a thread sealant like PTFE tape or a liquid sealant to ensure a leak-free connection.
FAQ
Frequently Asked questions
Q: What does "PCF 08-02" mean?
A: This is a standard industry code. "PCF" indicates a Female Straight Connector. "08" means it is for 8mm OD tubing. "02" means the thread is 1/4". The model number implies the thread is BSPT (R).
Q: Do I need to use Teflon tape with these fittings?
A: Yes. Because these fittings use a tapered thread (BSPT), it is standard practice to use a thread sealant like PTFE tape (Teflon tape) or a liquid pipe sealant to ensure a bubble-tight, reliable seal.
Q: What is the main difference between this LPCF and the LPC fitting?
A: The thread type. The LPCF has female (internal) threads to connect to a male port. The LPC has male (external) threads to connect to a female port.
