Features & Key Specifications
Features & Key Specifications of Our AF Series:
Efficient Water and Particulate Removal:
The combination of a high-quality filter element and an internal baffle creates a cyclonic action that effectively separates bulk liquids and filters solid contaminants from the air stream.
High-Precision Filtration Options:
Standard units are equipped with a 25 micron filter element, perfect for general-purpose pneumatic protection. For applications requiring a higher degree of filtration, a 5 micron element is available as an option.
Auto Drain or Semi-Auto Drain:
Choose the drain type that best suits your maintenance schedule. Semi-auto drain (standard) opens when the system is depressurized. The optional auto drain provides "fit-and-forget" convenience by automatically ejecting condensate when it reaches a certain level.
Full Range of Port Sizes (M5 to 1"):
To accommodate everything from miniature pneumatics to main airline filtration, this series is available in a comprehensive range of port sizes, including M5, 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", and 1".
Durable Polycarbonate Bowl with Guard:
The transparent polycarbonate bowl allows for easy visual inspection of the condensate level, and the standard metal bowl guard protects it from physical impact.
Modular Design for Flexibility:
Designed for versatility, the AF series can be easily connected to our AR (regulator) and AL (lubricator) units to create a custom FRL assembly.
Application Fields
The First Line of Defense for All Pneumatic Equipment:
Main Air Line Filtration: Installed directly after the air compressor receiver tank to provide primary filtration for the entire plant.
Point-of-Use Filtration: Placed just before a machine or pneumatic circuit to provide final filtration.
Protecting Sensitive Components: Essential for extending the life of pneumatic valves, cylinders, and air tools.
Paint & Finishing: Critical for removing water and oil that can ruin a paint finish.
Industrial Automation: Ensuring clean, reliable air for all automated machinery.
Technical & Selection Guide
Choosing Your Drain and Filter Element
Auto Drain vs. Semi-Auto Drain:
Choose an AUTO DRAIN if: Your system has a high moisture content, is difficult to access for regular maintenance, or if you require the highest level of protection. It operates automatically whenever water collects.
Choose a SEMI-AUTO DRAIN if: Your system is regularly shut down (depressurized), which will automatically drain the bowl, or if manual draining is easily performed.
25 Micron vs. 5 Micron Element:
25 Micron (Standard): Excellent for general-purpose filtration, protecting the vast majority of standard pneumatic components.
5 Micron (Optional): Recommended for "instrument quality" air needed for sensitive devices like pneumatic positioners, precision regulators, or in laboratory settings.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the main purpose of this air filter?
A: It serves two primary functions: first, as a particulate filter to remove solid debris like dust and rust, and second, as a water separator to remove condensed liquid water from the compressed air.
Q: How often do I need to replace the filter element?
A: This depends on the quality of your compressed air. As a general rule, the element should be inspected every few months and replaced when it appears dirty or you notice a significant pressure drop across the filter.
Q: Can this filter remove oil from the air?
A: This is a particulate and bulk liquid filter. While it will remove some large oil droplets, it is not a coalescing filter designed to remove fine oil aerosols. For oil-free applications, a coalescing filter should be installed downstream.
