Features & Key Specifications
Features & Key Specifications of Our 3A Series:
Inherently Safe, Non-Electrical Operation:
Because it is actuated by compressed air, this non-electrical 3-way valve generates no sparks, making it the perfect choice for applications where safety is a top priority.
Optimized for Single-Acting Control:
The 3/2 way function provides the necessary three ports (inlet, outlet, exhaust) to efficiently operate single-acting pneumatic cylinders or to act as a simple on-off air switch.
Single or Double Air Pilot Actuation:
This series includes single air pilot (spring return) models for momentary action and double air pilot (latching) models that hold their last position until a return signal is applied.
Ultimate Reliability:
The simple, mechanical design without electrical components eliminates the risk of coil burnout, ensuring consistent performance and a long service life, even in harsh conditions.
Full Range of Sizes and Ports:
Available in multiple body sizes (100 to 400 series) with port sizes ranging from M5 up to 1/2", ensuring the correct flow rate for your specific application.
Global Thread Compatibility:
To meet worldwide requirements, we offer three standard thread types: NPT for North America, BSPP (G), and BSPT (P).
Application Fields
The Safe Choice for Non-Electrical On-Off Control:
Hazardous Environments: Controlling clamps or small actuators on machinery in paint booths or chemical plants where electrical sparks are a risk.
All-Pneumatic Control Panels: Used as a signal valve in logic circuits that operate entirely on compressed air.
Pneumatic Piloting: Acting as the primary signal source to actuate larger air-piloted valves (like our 4A series).
Mobile Equipment: A simple and robust control option for equipment on trucks or in the field where electrical power is limited.
General Machine Building: Any application requiring the control of a single-acting cylinder without using electricity.
Technical & Selection Guide
How to Select the Right 3A Valve
Choose the Function (Single vs. Double Air Pilot):
Single Air Pilot (e.g., 3A210): Use when you need the cylinder to automatically return to its home position when the air pilot signal is removed.
Double Air Pilot (e.g., 3A220): Use when you need the cylinder to hold its last position. It requires a pilot signal for the forward action and a separate pilot signal for the return action.
Select the Size: Choose the valve series and port size (M5 - 1/2") based on the required airflow for your cylinder or application.
Specify the Thread: Select the thread type (NPT for North America, G/BSPP for most other regions) to match your fittings.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a 3-way air pilot valve?
A: It's a valve with three ports that is shifted by a pulse of compressed air instead of an electric signal. It's primarily used to control a single-acting cylinder or as a simple on-off air switch.
Q: What is the difference between a 3A (air pilot) and a 3V (solenoid) valve?
A: The control method. The 3A is controlled by air, making it safe for certain environments and for non-electrical systems. The 3V is controlled by electricity, making it easy to integrate with PLCs.
Q: Can I use this valve to control a double-acting cylinder?
A: No. A double-acting cylinder requires a 5-way valve (like our 4A series). A 3-way valve is designed for single-acting cylinders.
