4H Series 5-Way Manual Hand Lever Valves

Explore our comprehensive 4H Series of 5-way manual hand lever valves, the definitive choice for direct, reliable control of double-acting pneumatic cylinders. This range of hand-operated valves is perfect for applications requiring precise manual control, such as operator workstations, test benches, or as a critical safety override. The key feature of the 4H series is its crisp detented (locking) action, which securely holds the selected position, providing clear and confident control for any air system.

Features & Key Specifications

Features & Key Specifications of Our 4H Series:

Secure Detented (Locking) Action:
The robust hand lever locks firmly into each position, ideal for "set-it-and-forget-it" applications. This maintained action prevents accidental shifting and ensures the actuator remains in its selected state.

Full 5-Way Control Functions:
This series includes 5/2 way models for standard extend/retract control, as well as versatile 5/3 way models that provide a neutral center position for stopping a cylinder mid-stroke.

Wide Operating Range:
Built for versatility, these valves function reliably in a wide temperature range of -20°C to 70°C and can operate from 0 to 0.8 MPa, making them suitable for low-pressure and vacuum applications.

Full Range of Sizes and Ports:
Available in three body sizes (200, 300, and 400 series) with port sizes ranging from 1/8" up to 1/2" to match your system's flow requirements.

Global Thread Compatibility:
To meet worldwide requirements, we offer three standard thread types: NPT for North America, BSPP (G), and BSPT (P).

Application Fields

Ideal Applications for Manual Locking Valves:

Operator Workstations: Direct control of pneumatic clamps and presses where positions need to be held.

Test Benches: Manually cycling a device and locking it into a specific state for inspection or testing.

Safety Overrides: Installing as a manual override to lock a machine in a safe, de-energized state.

Mobile Equipment: Reliable, locked-position control where no electricity is available.

Technical & Selection Guide

Understanding Detented (Locking) Valve Operation

What is a Detented Valve?
A detented valve is designed to stay in the position you put it in, without you needing to hold the lever. You shift it to the "on" position, it clicks into place, and remains on until you manually shift it back. This is also known as a "maintained" or "locking" action. It is the opposite of a "spring-return" or "momentary" valve.

Choosing Between 5/2 Way and 5/3 Way:

5/2 Way: A 2-position valve, ideal for fully extending and fully retracting a cylinder.

5/3 Way: A 3-position valve (e.g., extend/neutral/retract). The neutral center position is used to stop and hold a cylinder mid-stroke.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I need a valve that locks in position. Is this the right one?
A: Yes, absolutely. The standard 4H series is a detented valve, which means it is designed to lock in position.

Q: Does this lever spring back to the center?
A: No. The 4H series features a locking mechanism, not a spring-return. It will hold whatever position it is shifted to.

Q: What is the difference between a 4H (manual) valve and a 4V (solenoid) valve?
A: The control method. A 4H valve is operated manually by an operator's hand. A 4V valve is operated electrically by a solenoid coil.
